About Birhcall Golf and Leisure Dronfield
Developers Birchall Estates have obtained planning permission for the first phase of a major leisure and visitor attraction to the north west of Chesterfield at Unstone. The site includes an existing golf course and areas of woodland and open countryside.
Detailed consent for the first phase of the scheme was granted in 2008, with later phases subject to the submission of further details. Once completed, the development will include:
Visitor accommodation including a 212 bed apartment/hotel- condominium, 250 woodland lodges and a 26-bed golf hotel;
World class golf facilities on the site consisting of: an18 hole championship course, 8 hole practice course and driving range;
120 hectares of park and woodland incorporating walking and cycling trails;
A sports injury clinic and;
lndoor climate controlled water sports, adventure and other leisure facilities
The development is intended to occur in three phases and to generate significant numbers of new jobs. Visitor accommodation and indoor facilities will be based on a unique 'Ecodome' concept, with buildings arranged under a circular series of canopies.
